This simple gem was resting on the back waters of Tippy Dam in Brethren, MI, loosely tied to the dock my dad, John and I were casting from. I set down my pole and snapped a few shots of the lake, but this photo was one of my favorites from the set.
Like all things, it reminds me of something from a movie I like, "Foxfire (1996)" in this case. The protagonist took pictures all the time. She was going to submit them as part of a portfolio to art schools. She was showing them to this runaway she'd befriended and when they came upon this photo she'd taken of an old, rundown garage and diner she said, "I haven't decided what I'm going to do to this one" as she was always dressing her pictures up by computer. The friend replied, "Why don't you just leave it alone? It's nice."
There's a naturalistic element to this shot that I find very intriguing.
Great shot.
