Rusted[it]

Rusted[it], originally uploaded by chelseabromley.

I can't decide whether or not I like this photo. I like the colors, the texture, the subject and slightly abstract quality, but I'm not one to center my objects in the frame. Perhaps this image would be better served if framed to the right---but here I am trying to do something different, to try and fill the rest of the frame because I am rather prone to utilize the right side out of sheer favoritism influenced mildly by film theory. I'm not sure. I'm thinking about it. Sometimes you've got to put something down on paper (or screen) to get it out of your head and really look at it.

Roots & Rivers

Roots & Rivers, originally uploaded by chelseabromley.

J. and I went exploring our new home which is drastically different from 804 zip; and while I'll miss the unobstructed view of the stadium and the opportunity to simply cross the street on the game day, I'm (and I suppose We're ) rather in love with our parks and gardens across the road.

Through the Storm

Through the Storm, originally uploaded by chelseabromley.

On our way back to Ann Arbor J. and I decided to drive down to Grand Haven---just as a severe thunderstorm was coming across Lake Michigan. This photo was taken around 2:00p; the entire sky went dark as we raced out to the beach house through the heavy and rain and thunder.

I love Michigan!

It's hard to get out when you don't want to leave.

Portage Point, Onekama, MI

I really really really want to move out west--I haven't settled on where, exactly, but I've got several hundred miles of ideas that lie roughly between Portland and Seattle. Maybe Northern California. But I have this one little, itsy bitsy, mitten-shaped hang up:

Sunset over Lake Michigan, Onekama, MI

I LOVE Michigan. Everything about it.
Except the unemployment rate & current job market.

I think big things will be happening soon here, especially in the film industry, and I'm doing my best to hang tight---more out of solid stubbornness than any noble reason--because I know, I KNOW that Michigan is the place, and entirely underrated (and often ignored) by the rest of the country.

I mean, yes, we do see a lot of this:

Christmastime in Northern Michigan

But it's absolutely lovely, I promise, and only lasts for..seven or eight months out of the year...

And if you're a nature lover, like me, and like J Edward , than there's simply an overabundance of inspiration and beauty to keep you going, doing, exploring, creating, driving, sharing, loving, growing...

Tahquamenon Falls, Newberry(ish), MI

So I ask myself, what's the rush? For now I'll be content with a road trip or three, out west or any which way, while I continue my studies & creativity here, and hopefully back at U of M (Go Blue!), with anticipation for the film industries (Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford?) and a wealth inspiration all around.

Well, all around in the North, I'm partial to the North.

Bath Time for Ducky

WaterProofing

There are always plenty of ducks floating around in Manistee, but this little guy was in the middle of an elaborate bath when I grabbed my camera.
The rest of the ducks were sleeping.

I really, really, really like clouds. Rain clouds, small clouds, wispy clouds, storm clouds, thunderclouds, pink clouds, toy story clouds, blanket clouds, cirrus clouds, the works. I take a lot of pictures of clouds, like this one, the beautiful sky over Lake Michigan in July.

Vintage Motor

Vintage Motor, originally uploaded by chelseabromley.

This simple gem was resting on the back waters of Tippy Dam in Brethren, MI, loosely tied to the dock my dad, John and I were casting from. I set down my pole and snapped a few shots of the lake, but this photo was one of my favorites from the set.
